The IALP is a non-political, non-governmental worldwide organisation of professionals and scientists. The organisation was founded in 1924 by Emil Froeschels to foster collaboration of professionals interested in speech and voice disorder throughout the world. The Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Taiwan has bidded successfully for the host of 31st World Congress. It was also the second Asian country to host this World Congress after the 20th world congress held in Japan in 1986. There were over 1,000 delegates participated and over 400 abstracts submitted in the 31st World Congress of the IALP held in Taipei, Taiwan.
