K&A International has again lifted first prize at the Taiwan Convention Awards for planning a congress hailed as advancing the meetings industry on the island. The professional conference organiser won the Taiwan MICE Advancement Award, which recognises outstanding achievements by the island’s meetings industry. K&A came top out of 12 finalists for organising the 10th Asian Congress of Urology of the Urological Association of Asia, which attracted more than 1,677 doctors from 36 countries and regions to Taipei. The four-day event in August, 2010, featured lectures by 187 invited faculty members and 555 exhibitors, representing 58 medical equipment or medicine suppliers. The congress featured live surgical demonstrations transmitted from two different hospitals onto large screens in the Taipei International Convention Centre auditorium. Kitty Wong, president of K&A International, said her team began preparing for the congress in May 2008 and spent 26 months and 20,000 man hours on the planning. To ensure the success of the project, several scenarios had to be rehearsed with the video teams, the two hospitals and the conference centre. Taiwan culture was also a featured at the event to promote the island as a destination.
